Build Your Dream Home

The other day I was walking by a real estate office and ran into a listing that was unusual:
Location! Location! Location! Build your dream home on this lot. The lot is permitted for a 3-level home with total building area of 4790 sq.ft.. An approved plan is included with the sale and available for preview. Permit has expired but can be extended/renewed. Great deal! Don’t miss it.
Price: $759,000
City: San Francisco
Address: 2508 19th Ave.
Three quarters of a million dollars for a piece of land! And you still have to build on it. In building a dream home, a new owner will probably want to revise the approved plan which means more costs. Also, it’s location on 19th Ave., one of the busiest streets in San Francisco, makes it one of the least desirable places to live.
Since the permit expired and construction hasn’t even broken ground yet, I wonder if the owners ran out of money or just decided it wasn’t worth it. It seems to have a sense of rejection all over it..

I’ve always wondered what would pursued someone to buy a house on 19th ave. It’s amazing that the people who park on the sidewalks there don’t get tickets.
